Mac & Cheese Burger Pie
Here’s a favorite with the kids. It’s important to use really lean ground beef in this recipe.Serves 4 to 6
Ingredients
- 3/4 lb. hamburger - 90% lean or better
- 1/4 c. breadcrumbs
- 1/2 tbsp. minced onions
- 2 tbsp. ketchup
- 1/2 tbsp. prepared yellow mustard
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 box macaroni & cheese
- 1/4 c. margarine
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions
- » Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
» Mix the hamburger, breadcrumbs, onion, ketchup, mustard, and salt in a bowl.» Shape the mixture into a 9-inch pie pan, patting evenly across the bottom and up the sides.» Bake hamburger pie shell for 15 minutes.» While hamburger is baking, prepare macaroni & cheese with milk and margarine according to directions on the box, or use your favorite variation.» Remove the hamburger from oven and drain any excess grease.» Scoop the mac & cheese into the burger pie shell.» Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top.» Bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until the hamburger is completely cooked.
